Meet Emily

Emily is a former energy industry logistics and business development coordinator, who discovered needlepoint after the birth of her first child, during the throes of COVID-19. What began as a quiet pursuit to steady her heart and hands blossomed into a profound love for the craft and a deep admiration for the community of storytellers who stitch alongside her.

From this passion grew The Finishing School Blog, a carefully curated space where Emily shares her collection of completed needlepoint canvases as well as finishing touches for everyday life (and some #SuperSideNotes).

Initially a personal diary, the blog has evolved into a celebration of the artistry and meaning behind every needlepoint stitch, capturing not just the “what” but the heartfelt “why” of each piece.

At the core of her work is a belief in the power of authentic connection. While sharing her own story is meaningful, her greatest joy lies in inviting others to uncover and share the stories within their stitches. Whether through her blog, The Finishing School Diary, or The Finishing School Correspondence Cards her hope is to offer a soft, inspiring space—a gentle invitation to pause, reflect, and find beauty in the shared threads of needlepoint and life.

Emily lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, their three children and their English Bulldog, Hank.
